Shaking off the Rust

Enjoy the Journey, not the destination.

It was another strange and long day. I felt interestingly tired, yet I had so much energy I could go again. The feeling of “I got this” was in the back of my mind. This is the work I love to do.

A song started playing on Spotify while I made dinner, “Shakin’ off the Rust” by the Blue Stones, and I thought:

Yes! I GOT THIS, AND IT’S AMAZING.

Sometimes, we feel lost, uninspired, and left behind in our lives, but this feeling is not permanent. The author Steven Pressfield calls it “resistance,” and it’s a force that stops us from doing the things we are meant to do. Its job is to stop us just as we get close to our purpose in life, and it can be overcome with effort and persistence.

J.R.R. Tolkien once said, “Not all those who wander are lost.” Reminding us that the journey is a valuable part of life, not the destination.

Remember, no one gets out alive, so what are we running towards?

Life often feels like wandering through a dense forest, where the path isn’t always clear, and the destination seems elusive. It is in these moments that shaking off the rust becomes essential.

Feeling lost or stagnant is not a sign of failure but a call to action.

As Confucius wisely noted, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” Every step forward shakes off a bit more rust, no matter how small.

It’s in these deliberate, mindful movements that we rediscover our path. Each twist and turn and unexpected detour adds depth to our journey. We must look for joy and embrace the uncertainty, for it’s within these moments of wandering that we often find our true selves.

Remember, even the mightiest tree began as a seed that weathered countless seasons. So, don’t stress about the detours. Each is a chapter in your story, each challenge a stepping stone.

Shaking off the rust isn’t just about getting back on track; it’s about appreciating the journey, embracing growth, and finding beauty in the process.
