Improve human intelligence, not replace it.

Do not stop thinking for yourselves.

A question posted on Quora:

“What should you do to ensure AI does not override but improve human intelligence?”

My response has been the same since day one. I believe we can find harmony between ourselves and AI.

Herman Hesse once said, “You are only afraid if you are not in harmony with yourself.” Are we afraid because we do not understand it? It’s a black box, and the fear of the unknown is overwhelming. Or is it a fear of being useless or not needed?

Computers will be smarter than us and faster than us and probably never fully replace us!

To ensure AI complements rather than overrides human intelligence:

  1. Position AI as an Enhancer: Think of AI as a tool that augments our capabilities, not one that replaces them. It can be an amazing assistant, toolset, or lever that can help you move mountains.
  2. Synergize AI with Human Skills: Recognize the strengths of both. While AI is great for computation, humans excel in creativity and emotional understanding.
  3. Continuous Adaptability: Embrace a culture of learning. Use AI to bolster our skills, ensuring a balance between technology and innate human abilities.

In the end, we must accept that AI is not going away. The future will be a balancing act of AI and Human Skills. AI has many opportunities and advantages for cognitive enhancement; we need to leverage them if we want to succeed.
